Devotional Reading: 1 Thessalonians 5:1–15
Background Scripture: 2 Chronicles 20:5–20

2 Chronicles 20:13–20

13 And all Judah stood before the LORD, with their little ones, their wives, and their children.
14 Then upon Jahaziel the son of Zechariah, the son of Benaiah, the son of Jeiel, the son of Mattaniah, a Levite of the sons of Asaph, came the Spirit of the LORD in the midst of the congregation;
15 And he said, Hearken ye, all Judah, and ye inhabitants of Jerusalem, and thou king Jehoshaphat, Thus saith the LORD unto you, Be not afraid nor dismayed by reason of this great multitude; for the battle is not yours, but God’s.
16 To morrow go ye down against them: behold, they come up by the cliff of Ziz; and ye shall find them at the end of the brook, before the wilderness of Jeruel.
17 Ye shall not need to fight in this battle: set yourselves, stand ye still, and see the salvation of the LORD with you, O Judah and Jerusalem: fear not, nor be dismayed; to morrow go out against them: for the LORD will be with you.

1:59
well hey y'all hey welcome welcome welcome to redefining self with Coach fee where we teach Sunday school every
2:07
Sunday morning at 9 a.m. thank you for joining
2:13
us today our lesson we are on January 21st lesson eight faith and
2:21
encouragement and our devotional reading is coming from 1 Thessalonians 5 and
2:26
1-15 now these scriptures when I give you devotional read readings and back down ground scriptures it's a part of
2:33
what you should be studying to do this lesson amen every lesson we have devotional readings we have background
2:39
scriptures we also have weekly scriptures where we should be reading scriptures every day so for those of you
2:46
who are interested in me sending you those in your inbox all you have to do is message me I
2:54
will create an inbox group for the Sunday school and I can put the lessons
3:00
um information in there ahead of time if you want to study so we just going to say a quick prayer father we just thank
3:07
you for this day we thank you for this opportunity God we thank you for calling us out of the darkness into your
3:14
Marvelous Light we thank you for sending your son to die for us and loving us so much that he made
3:21
the ultimate sacrifice and so father now even as we go forth
3:27
God as feel Rags So Unworthy of the calls the
3:34
anointings and appointing that you have given us but you don't look at our past you look at our future you look at the
3:41
plan that you have for us and the plan that you have for your people and you use people
3:49
often who may be unworthy or feel unworthy or not good enough or not
3:54
enough because you know the hearts of the people and you know what you desire
3:59
for your people and you have strategically placed each one of us in
4:05
the body in the place that we need to be in where we can help solve problems for
4:10
people in those areas and so even now as we teach this lesson we decrease so that
4:17
you can increase we get out the way God because it's not about us it's all about you and the message that you want to
4:23
give to your people on today God I pray that you will open blinded eyes and
4:29
flush out deaf ears father to hear your voice because your word says my people hear AO
4:34
my voice and strangers they will not follow the only voice that we want to
4:40
hear is yours father because you are ultimately our leader and our guide by
4:45
Holy by way of Holy Spirit you you direct us father and we want to follow that path not the path that seems right
4:52
that leads to destruction but the path and the plan that you have for us oh father in Jesus name I pray
5:00
and so again our our subject today is Faith
5:06
and encouragement our devotional reading comes for 2 Corinthians 5 and
5:12
1-15 and our background scripture comes from 2
5:17
Chronicles 5-20 our lesson comes from 2 Chronicles
5:22
20 and 13 through 20 and our um key text today is believe
5:29
believe in the Lord your God so shall ye be established believe
5:35
in his Pro prophets and so shall we Pro ye Prosper again let me read that again
5:41
believe in the Lord your God and so shall you be established believing in
5:47
God is what establishes us and it says Believe In His prophets so shall ye
5:52
Prosper we have to believe in the people of God that God has sent before us to
5:59
give give us the word and we take that word and we apply that word and we live
6:05
that word and we shall prosper now I let me make a disclaimer here because
6:11
everybody that that say they are a Christian may not be a Christian and every door that's open May that says
6:17
Church may not be a church but understand if we try the Spirit by the
6:23
spirit and see if it's a God and that spirit of God connects with our spirit of God then if we believe in the Lord
6:30
Our God we shall be established and if we believe in His prophets we shall prosper the second chronicles
6:43
2020b on April 15 1947 Jackie Robinson became the first
6:50
African-American to take field for a major league baseball team in the modern
6:55
era where he started in a game for the Brooklyn Dodgers
7:00
breaking down the color barrier was a milestone in moving toward an end to
7:06
discrimination in baseball and in America as a whole but it was an uphill
7:14
to reach that point and encouragement from others helped Robinson contributed
7:19
to overcoming the racial bias of postor War II Americans with more progress yet
7:26
needed today we have not arrived we still need progress amen Robinson's
7:32
success in baseball and later as an activist in the Civil Rights Movement became in turn an encouragement for
7:39
others to succeed by overcoming Prejudice and other
7:44
obstacles to offer you can do it wor of encouragement is good as far as it goes
7:51
but to be an example of one who has been through the fire of adversity is
7:56
encouragement on a whole other level encouragement is one of the most
8:01
positive ways to use words and actions especially when those who need to be
8:08
encouraged face times of great uncert uncertainty and challenges and so
8:13
reading this it made me think about we just celebrated Martin Luther King Day
8:19
last Monday and when I was teaching my students and we were talking about it we were talking about the struggle that
8:27
African-Americans have gone through in our country and it's no secret everybody
8:33
knows that slaves were brought from Africa on ships most did not make it
8:39
here alive and those that did live in a life of bondage and slavery for years
8:45
but at some point someone decided to make a difference someone decided that
8:52
that was not enough for them and so they started trying to escape and they there
8:57
were people though white people and black people and people in general who
9:03
assisted with this and so in this and they encouraged them and helped them and
9:09
provided resources for them to be able to do um come out of slavery law was
9:16
changed slavery was abolished and yet there were still rights that were not given to
9:23
African-Americans slaves who had come over and their families who had come over um on ships and their families that
9:32
they had birthed and raised which most of them they didn't even know because during slavery families were separated
9:39
and so we talked about this in class last week with my fourth grade um social studies class how C the Civil Rights
9:46
move came and because of civil rights a lot of rights that we have
9:51
now that we didn't have then and here we're talking about Jackie Robinson being one of those people who was
9:58
pivotal in helping with the Civil Rights Movement by being an activist and we
10:04
also know that Dr Martin Luther King Harriet tutman and so many others
10:10
Rosa Parks there are slew and slew of people who made a
10:15
sacrifice who went against the grind who swam
10:21
uphill who went through the difficult points just so that they would be able to tell their story how they got over
10:29
help others get over we overcome by the blood of the lamb and the word of our testimonies and so hear this story it
10:36
just made me think about all of those who have gone before us as we
10:44
celebrated Martin Luther King and this upcoming month we celebrate um African-American history
10:51
month or whatever they're calling it now but we need to understand that that's something that we need to pass along
10:59
from for generations to Generations the sacrifices that were
11:04
made and those sacrifices and seeing how many lost their lives and were willing
11:11
to make that sacrifice and the outcome of it how we are today where we are
11:16
today but yet still have so far to go should be an encouragement to us that we
11:22
can do it we can do it we can do it with God and in some cases God will do it for
11:31
us amen so this morning on my Facebook page I post a picture and a a quick
11:37
little saying because one of our scriptures today is saying that the battle is the Lord's it's not our battle
11:45
it's his battle but we are the vessels that he will use to fight the battle so
11:51
we have to be willing just like all the names that I have named and so many that I may not even know of and never heard
11:58
of there are people who didn't make the spotlights that were instrumental in
12:04
doing things to help catapult our people and and their families and you are one
12:10
of those people you are doing it right now for
12:16
someone whether you're a pastor whether you're a leader we are all a part of the
12:22
tree we are all a part of the branch and as long as we are fulfilling our purpose
12:28
and doing what God has called us to do we are one of those people who are encouraging and hugging on and loving on
12:35
people who mess up I know I'm a little bit maybe I'm off maybe I'm not off but y'all know how I
12:41
flow I I say what I hear and what I see so let's get into our lesson 2 chronic
12:49
Chronicles chapter 20 we're starting at verse 13 and verse 13 says and all Judah stood
12:57
before the Lord with their little ones their wives and their children here we
13:03
have a family that's coming before God and you know one of the areas that the
13:09
enemy attacks us in most is he attacks our families he attacks our marriages he
13:16
attacks siblings relationships he attacked CH parent child
13:21
relationships he attacks families God created Family when he
13:26
created Adam and Eve and told them to be ful and multiply and replenish the earth and the enemy attacks those but here we
13:34
see a family coming before God together it says and all of Judah stood before the
13:43
Lord with their little ones their wives and their children they brought their whole family now all of Judah stood
13:50
before the Lord reflect 2 Chronicles verse 20 and4 which was not a part of our lesson it was a part of our study
13:58
but not a part of what we're going to be talking about today but this records that the people all out of the cities of
14:04
Judah came to seek the Lord's help doing a crisis that was at hand now who do we
14:10
go to when we're in the crisis who do we go to when things look
14:16
like we just can't do it and we're about to lose our mind we go to God right and so that's historical the people of God
14:24
go to their father and it says the place where they gathered was the house of the
14:29
Lord here we are in this new age and I listen people got to do what they need
14:35
to do but the word of God does tell us to forsake not the assembling of ourselves together amen and so here
14:42
they're gathering at the house of God and it
14:49
says that that's verse 20 verse 5 I mean
14:54
sorry chapter 20 verse 5 says
15:02
and Jehoshaphat stood in the congregation of God and
15:07
Jerusalem in the house of the Lord before the new court they went in the house of the Lord
15:15
before the new court meaning that there had been an old Court there had been an old place of worship but now there was a
15:22
new place and this is where they were worshiping and we know that the temples have been destroyed and rebuilt
15:29
and this could be what they're alluding to that this was a new Temple and it says that there were
15:36
people and representative from every town president from in that people from
15:41
Jerusalem and they all gathered at the temple in Jerusalem now this crisis was
15:48
so severe that it was not only men gathered because you know the men would gather they would come together they
15:54
would go to war but whole families the the whole family
16:00
came the Fountain of Truth just had a family prayer Day family prayer day where they several days they asked for
16:06
families to come in for prayer and they covered families whole families and having just
16:13
heard their King's prayer the king Jehoshaphat had went before God and he
16:18
prayed and they were awaiting a response so 2 Chronicles 205 states that
16:26
the king stood in the house of the Lord before the Court the King was the leader he was the head and he was being an
16:33
example to the people of how we do things in Christendom amen now
16:39
Jehoshaphat was a king he was considered if you look at the list they are a list of kings that were considered good Kings
16:46
there's a list of kings that were considered bad kings he was considered a good King but understand good King good
16:55
people make mistakes good people good Kings they
17:01
error and so he errored and him his error put position them for where they
17:08
are now amen and so it says um here is where the assembly in Cen families and
17:15
their little ones stood before the Lord following jehoshaphat's F fervent prayer
17:20
for the Lord's help against the invading forces Jehosaphat had closed his prayer
17:28
with words expressing his and the complete people's complete dependence on the
17:34
Lord not on themselves go back and look at last week's lesson where we talked
17:39
about leaning not into all our own understanding in all our ways
17:45
acknowledging God and allowing him to direct our paths so here in this week's lesson we see someone who did exactly
17:53
what we talked about last week he went before the Lord in fervent prayer he came to God and when he close out that
17:59
prayer he let God know and the people we are depending completely on
18:04
God for this Victory to bring us out of what this is that we're going through
18:10
whatever it is that you're going through go to God lay before
18:17
him pray with your whole heart give it all to him get up leave it with him and
18:24
depend on him to do it amen
18:30
when our children were small my wife and I made an effort to keep them with us as much as possible when we attended church
18:37
we wanted to get them involved in worship service listening to sermons and talking with them about both afterward
18:44
so here's parents training up their children right this paid off in some
18:49
unexpected ways my youngest daughter decided she liked worship
18:55
songs even the old hymns
19:00
and asked me to sing them to her at bedtime my son watched the worship band
19:07
intently develop a love for drumming and is well at on his way to becoming a
19:13
world class percussionist my oldest daughter became enamored with missions and is going to
19:21
Bible college to become a missionary to Journey worshiping together as a family
19:26
is not the only reason they made these choices but it's part of a foundation of
19:32
faith we try to lay in their lives seeking the Lord with worship
19:38
prayer Etc happens both individually and
19:44
collectively for instance the Apostle Paul wrote letters to both individuals and churches it's important not to let
19:51
one aspect eclipse the other do you so understand that just because you go to
19:57
church don't mean that you worship God don't worship God Monday through Friday
20:02
Monday through Saturday when you're not at the church the word of God says that God
20:08
seeketh us God is a spirit and those that worship Him must worship Him in spirit and in truth and he's seeking us
20:16
to worship Him He created us so that he can we can worship him and have relationship with him so don't think
20:23
that just because you go to church spend an hour in church and worship in the building that when you leave that
20:29
building you done you're not you should be talking and worshiping God all day
20:35
all night in your mind make Psalms and hymns and Melodies to him praying to him
20:40
and seeking him amen verse
20:46
148 so now we know that there in biblical times genealogy was like major
20:52
and I don't know about you but to me genealogy is also very major we need to
20:58
know who we are we need to know where we came from especially as people our
21:04
people coming from slavery and our families being divided we don't have to know who we are we don't know half half
21:11
of our family and you never know when you going to marry somebody and find out
21:16
later that's your cousin at one of my family reunions these people came from another
21:23
state they met in another state they came home to the family reunion my
21:28
cousin came with his fiance they were getting married she was looking through our and
21:34
our reunions we pull out I don't know what you guys do when our families get together we pull out books we start
21:40
looking at pictures we talk about old times and so they pulled out the books they were looking at the pictures
21:45
talking at the about old times and the girl started asking him well how do you know this person and how do you know
21:51
that person and how do you know that person he was like oh that's my cousin that's my ay that's my he started saying
21:57
this this is his family she said but that's my family genealogy is important for that
22:04
reason geneology is important because there may be an inheritance that comes
22:10
with it and we know for the people of God especially the 12 tribes of Israel
22:16
they were connected to Jesus their lineage came through
22:21
Jesus Abraham Isaac and Jacob and all those 40 and2 Generations which we know
22:28
there were more Generations but that's the one that they used that's the one that they quote so that's the one that
22:34
I'll talk about today but we know it was over 50 Generations from that time till Jesus
22:40
right it was all important all of it had something to
22:45
some form of impact on history and if you could not prove your genealogy you
22:52
were not a part of that family today we have genealogy tests DNA test and things
22:59
of that nature where we can tell they went by Word of Mouth they told this person and that's your cousin over there
23:05
I've been in the grocery store in Alabama because I have different races in my family my great-grandmother was half Indian and half Caucasian my
23:13
great-grandfather was first descended I believe African but he was African descent and so we have a mixture in our
23:22
family and we don't know all of our family because we were raised in Detroit those in Alabama know everybody but we
23:28
don't know everybody so they uh I we're in the grocery Court
23:34
store my cousin said that's your cousins over there they were some Caucasian people he said do you know them I said
23:40
no he said those are the jurors I said really he said yeah that's your Grandma's family that's your great
23:47
grandma's family that's that was her family that's that's the people she a part of History our history is important
23:55
and so 14a says then upon jezel son of
24:01
Zachariah the son of benani the son of jel the son of metia a levite of the
24:08
sons of Ash so it's telling us genealogy and so we don't know who wrote
24:15
Chronicles they're saying possibly Ezra because of some connections to some
24:21
things that that were said in the book of Ezra but they really have no sure are not sure who wrote this book but it says
24:29
the chronicle has gone to a lot of work to record these sons of connections
24:35
being able to proes one lineage was important to ancient Jews as it is in
24:42
establishing the line of Jesus in the New Testament so that's what I just talked about
24:48
jezel to have his pedigree track back to ass of King David's era some of three
24:56
centuries previous is not worthy so he his lineage goes all the way back to
25:03
when David was King so let's look at 2 Chronicles 5
25:09
and12 also the Levites which were the singers all of them of ASP of Heman and
25:18
of jaam with their sons and their Brethren being arrayed in white linen having
25:24
symbols and sues and hearts stood at the East End Of The Altar and with them an
25:31
120 priests sounding with trumpet trumpets see why it was
25:38
important they were a part of the levite Heritage though praise and worship team
25:44
amen they were the ones that went out before battle and they were the ones that praised and worship in the temple
25:51
and blew the trumpets and and worship before God so that the anointing of God can come amen we have our modern
25:59
day praise and worship teams Nehemiah 11:17 and Manti the son of Mika the son
26:08
of zabdi the son of as was the principal to begin the Thanksgiving in prayer he
26:15
started praise and worship and Buddah the second among his brothers and adah
26:21
abda the son of shumi the son of Gilli and the son of J J
26:28
death these were the Levites that started worship service and so when we
26:34
look at jezel the son of Zachariah it's important for us to know the lineage
26:40
because it takes us all the way back to the time of King David and it shows that Not only was he a part of that lineage
26:48
but they were also a part of the Levites amen and so now that was set in the tone
26:56
for next 14 be came the spirit of the Lord in the midst of the congregation so
27:01
now the Levites the worshippers have come and they began to worship and the spirit of the Lord came into the midst
27:09
of the congregation and so the Declaration of the holy spirit is coming in so we see that the Holy Spirit has
27:15
always been on the scene he didn't just come in the book of Acts but here in this scripture said came the spirit of
27:22
the Lord in the midst of the congregation the Holy Spirit came amongst the hungry a here in the Old
27:29
Testament
27:34
amen the Holy Spirit Came Upon a different Zachariah who rebuked josos
27:40
for turning away from the Lord and leading Judah and Jerusalem into adultery let's look at that 24 and 20
27:47
and the spirit of God here we are in 2 Chronicles 24 and 20 and we see the spirit of God yet again and the spirit
27:55
of God came be upon Zachariah the son of jokah the priest which stood above the
28:01
people and said unto them thus say the Lord why transgress ye the Commandments
28:07
of the Lord that ye cannot Prosper because you have forsaken the Lord Heath
28:12
also forsaken you here we see again this is just saying the holy spirit is on the
28:18
scene we looked at it we just read it in 20 and 14b of 2 Chronicles came the
28:24
spirit of the Lord in the midst of the people why because they gathered before the Lord the king the leader called all
28:31
the families all the families came before the Lord they called out the Levites jhazel and and they begin to
28:37
lead them and worship and as they LED and worship the spirit of the Lord inhabited their
28:43
praise in the Old Testament so why do we think if he was
28:49
present then he was present in Acts he's not present today the holy spirit is the one who comes in and shifts the whole
28:56
atmosphere and things begin to happen when he comes in and you feel his presence we talked
29:03
about this back in our lesson where we talked about mothers of faith and we talked about Elizabeth and and and uh
29:10
Mary and we talked about how when Mary went to visit Elizabeth they were both pregnant Mary was newly pregnant and was
29:18
not showing Elizabeth was about six months along Mary me went to visit her
29:24
Jesus was in Mary's stomach Elizabeth had John in her stomach and immediately
29:30
when um Elizabeth and and and Mary greeted each other the baby John be to
29:38
LEAP in his in the stomach of Elizabeth because he recognized the baby Jesus in
29:43
her stomach and the Holy Spirit became came on Elizabeth and she began to worship God holy spirit is
29:51
present he's here all we have to do is invite him in
29:57
and allow him to lead and guide us and to break up some of this stuff that
30:02
we're dealing with the atmosphere shifted
30:07
here it says because the Holy Spirit came into the midst of the congregation
30:20
amen instances in the Old Testament era seem to have limited durations of
30:25
specific individuals regarding specific tasks and events on the other hand the
30:31
gift of the holy spirit in the New Testament is present in all of us so there were visitations in the Old
30:36
Testament where the holy spirit will come to this person or to that person they didn't have the pleasure
30:43
that we have today in the New Testament where the holy spirit is present with all of
30:48
us back in the Old Testament they they had the priest could go in the temple right anybody else stepped foot in that
30:54
Temple was going to be dragged out and if the priest went in there room he was going to be dragged out that's why they had those long canes with the hooks on
31:01
them when they fell out in there they just reached in and grabbed them
31:06
out God didn't play with his church back then and he's given us so much grace and
31:12
mercy now and we're abusing it we're in worship leader places and Leadership
31:18
places and we're doing things that can be shameful I just saw a video of a praise
31:24
and worship leader of worshiping praising he got upset it appears he got upset because the people were not
31:30
praising and worship and they were just sitting there looking at him and as they were sitting there looking at him he
31:35
started saying negative things about him y'all sitting there looking at me because y'all broke y oh that is so
31:41
unallowed in the house of God had that happened in the old days he would have died with that first
31:49
breath you sitting there and looking at me and you this and you're sitting there and you looking at it ain't even about you when you up worshiping God don't
31:56
even focus focus on the people focus on God focus on bringing in the anointing and the presence of God not on what the
32:04
people doing I always saw this and I've always
32:12
heard this growing up in church and people will be talking about oh we ain't gonna pump and Prime you and all that
32:18
kind of stuff first of all if the anoint if you see these were the Levites they came up and began to
32:25
worship God and they said the spirit of the god of the Lord came into the con a midst in the midst of the congregation
32:31
our worship should be such as as we worship the spirit will come in it's not
32:38
our job to pump and Primal you're absolutely right it's not our job to look at them and say their faces don't
32:44
look right and they ain't join in the worship it's our job to to invoke the
32:50
presence of the Holy Spirit and it's the holy spirit's job to to come into the
32:56
midst of the congregation and and and uh let his presence be made known and then those who are
33:03
connected will worship and those who are not and have no clue and are just there
33:09
because they trying to get something different or because they mama told them to go or because somebody in light and
33:15
they don't have no relationship with God they may just look at you like you're crazy they
33:21
may and so we talking about the Holy Spirit and being empowered by him as believers
33:27
what does it look like for believers to be empowered by the holy spirit for one we going to have our
33:33
armor on and be ready at all times Ephesians 518-20 look at that we should have our
33:41
armor on at all times and be attentive to the ways of the hly how the Holy Spirit Works in us and through
33:49
us we need to understand this how does he work in me because the way he works
33:54
in you may not be how he works in me I was thinking about that this morning
33:59
and yesterday and I think about it quite a bit I see a lot of post say don't do this do it this way don't do that do it
34:06
that way you got to do it the way God give it to you to do it when God told me years ago to start a podcast to start a
34:14
Ministry I couldn't do it I struggled with I don't want to be like them I
34:20
don't want to do it like that that's not who I am that's not the way I move do it the way you do you had to learn that and
34:27
it took me some years to learn that but I was moving but I didn't move probably the
34:34
way I could have had I known where I was supposed to be and what I should be doing and how I how to do me the way I
34:42
do me and so back in in last year in in the
34:47
summer or so last year I was talking to God again about this podcast you've been
34:52
telling me to do this podcast I don't know how to do the podcast I've had trainings on podcast I've started to be
34:58
on podcast but how do you want me to do p this podcast I don't want to do the
35:05
subjects that they doing I don't want to do the topics that they do I don't that's not who I am that's not where and
35:10
I don't feel in my spirit that that's where you taking me I need clear directions and one day I was talking to
35:17
God and he said do Sunday school I said Sunday school as a podcast okay I love
35:25
Sunday school I love teaching I don't know at all but I do have Holy Spirit to
35:30
help me and so I started Sunday school last year in September the 3 was our first
35:36
lesson and here we are today why because I was obedient to God and do
35:45
what he said do keep on your armor people allow Holy Spirit to come into
35:51
your life and lead and guide you and to take you where God is taking you we talked about
35:58
the football the basketball player I'm sorry the baseball player I believe it was Jackie Wilson and how he broke
36:04
barriers he broke barriers he became a civil rights activist the first
36:09
African-American to play in major leagues you can break barriers too but
36:15
it may not look like what somebody else is doing it may be different and that's
36:21
[Music] okay and so the Old Testament they didn't the pleasure that we have of
36:28
having Holy Spirit Bishop Keta Vine has a school of the holy spirit that she
36:34
does every morning at 7 a.m. you can go to her YouTube page
36:41
Bishop Keta Vine core letter c o r e l l t oh on
36:48
sorry c o r l e t t a van v a u g hn go
36:53
to her Facebook page and you may you will see um School of the Holy Spirit I believe
36:59
there's a Facebook page for that also you can also go to her YouTube page and
37:05
all the lessons are there we need to know who holy spirit is and we need to
37:11
allow Holy Spirit into our lives the difference living with holy
37:17
spirit is so major it is so major and you do not want to try to walk out your
37:23
life as a Christian without having Holy Spirit people don't understand it I didn't
37:29
either at the beginning but he speaks to us every day he took me after my accident all the
37:37
way back and showed me every part of my life where he was the one there leading
37:43
and guiding me I'm not taking credit for nothing that he did in me even what he's doing
37:49
right now I don't have the capability to do this of my own but with the Holy Spirit I can do it and you can
37:59
to and so verse 15 says and he said so
38:05
here we have the
38:10
prophet and he's talking to the people and he's telling
38:16
[Music] them what God has given him to tell them right and so he says in verse 15 and he
38:23
said hearken ye all Judah and all ye habitants of Jerusalem and thy King
38:31
Jehoshaphat thus sayth the Lord unto you be Not Afraid nor dismayed by reason of
38:39
this great multitude for the battle is not yours it's not your fight to fight
38:46
but
38:51
God's this message was not directed at all 12 tribes of Israel because we we
38:56
know the tribes were split right but only the southern Kingdom of Judah where
39:01
Jerusalem was located the S the northern tribes the
39:07
tribes in Northern Israel were ruled by ungodly Kings and so the message was not
39:14
delivered to them because it would not be appropriate they were not in that Temple he was speaking to the people in
39:20
the temple the people who had gathered there at in Jerusalem and were located in that building the message was for
39:28
them and he says thus said the Lord thus said the Lord occurs over 400
39:34
times in the Old Testament and so here jhazel is directed
39:40
his words to all the people who were assembled now the negative phrase Be not
39:48
Afraid nor dismayed also appears in 2 Chronicles 32 and7 so let's read that it
39:55
says be strong and courageous Be not Afraid nor dismayed
40:00
for the king of azer for nor for all the multitude that is with him for there is
40:07
more with us than with him listen it says here don't worry
40:15
about the great multitude Don't Be Afraid about the numbers because the battle is not yours
40:23
it's God's and then he comes right back in 2 Chronicles 32 and 7 it says nor
40:29
Don't Be Afraid or dismayed by the multitude why because it is more with us
40:38
than is with him why because God is with us and if God is for us he's more than
40:45
the whole world the whole world Listen the whole world can you
40:51
number the the number of people in the world if God is for us
40:57
here's let me let me go back let me go back 2 Chronicles 15 at the end of that
41:03
it says Be not Afraid nor dismayed by reason of this great crowd it don't
41:09
matter how many people it is how big it is it don't matter because the battle is
41:16
not yours it's God's and then we he comes right back in 2 Chronicles 22 a
41:23
reference scripture that we're going to use 22 and 13 it says Thou shalt not Prosper I'm sorry no no no no that's not
41:31
it where it says that there are more with us than there are against
41:39
us if God before us who can be against
41:47
us who can be against us it's not a cliche when people say the
41:55
battle is not yours that belong to the Lord we just read it it's a scripture 2
42:01
Chronicles 20 and 15 the interet says for the battle is
42:08
not yours but God's it's a scripture we got to know this word so that we know
42:14
have something to fight with right so now he's preparing and you're in a
42:21
crisis and this may be negative but be strong and
42:28
courageous be strong and
42:34
courageous 2 Chronicles 32 and7 be strong and
42:40
courageous Be not Afraid nor
42:46
dismayed excuse me and the end of that says for there be more with us than with
42:52
him that's a scripture that I was looking for that I read earlier 2 Chronicles 32 and7 y'all need to be
42:58
writing these down so then when you get in a crisis and you're in a tight spot
43:03
you go back to these scriptures and be reminded of what the
43:08
word of the Lord says right be strong and very courageous
43:15
because there are more with us than they are those that are against us now let's
43:21
read first first Chronicles 22 and 13 and it
43:27
sound like the same scripture but it's not these scriptures are throughout the word of
43:35
God the end of that says be strong and of good Courage the be part of that
43:41
dread not nor be dismayed why it says then shalt thou Prosper if thou take
43:49
heed to fulfill the statutes and judgment what the Lord charged Moses
43:54
with concerning Israel and then be strong and courageous and I said this
44:00
last week people think that courageous mean that you're not afraid y'all think that I get up here
44:06
every week not afraid do y'all think that I'm not shaking in my boots that I
44:12
might not say the right thing or I might say be get to ahead of myself and say
44:17
the wrong scripture I have seen people sit up and and and talking about people
44:23
at events saying yeah and the preacher was preaching and they said this that and the other don't mean that they don't know
44:30
what they were talking about sometimes when all those words start running together and you start hearing God and
44:36
seeing things and you're trying to say everything and not miss nothing you might say misquote a scripture you might
44:43
say something a little bit off but that don't mean that you're not that you're not in the right vein right some
44:51
preachers catch it and they come back and say oh I just said this and they fix it and some don't they just keep going
44:56
going but understand that we are to be strong how do we be strong the word of
45:03
God says be strong in the Lord and the power of His might I just told you a
45:08
minute ago read Ephesians chapter 6 10
45:14
through 18 and put on his whole
45:19
armor and that's what's going to make us strong because we're going to be strong in the Lord stop trying trying to do
45:26
things in your own strength that's why we fail cuz we try to do it ourselves we
45:32
think we got this oh I got this no you don't if you had it you wouldn't be
45:38
there I'm talking about me if you had this you wouldn't have made it to the
45:43
you wouldn't have did this you wouldn't have did that oh I got a whole list let me scroll it down like a dead C
45:50
scroll it's rolling it might be still rolling things that I decisions that I
45:55
make without asking God without having on my armor with thinking that I knew it that
46:04
I had it but last week we said do not be try to be wise in your own don't be try to
46:11
wise don't try to be wise seek God allow God to be the one to lead and guide us
46:18
be strong go to Ephesians and read that and learn about the armor and of good
46:25
courage courage don't mean you SC not scared it means you do it when you scared do you really think that these
46:33
people went in those battles there were times when they said it it's more of them than it is us but what did he say
46:40
don't worry about how the numbers don't worry about the multitudes don't worry about the world because greater is he
46:47
that's in us than he just don't worry about that I got
46:53
you that's what God told me I don't know and if he told me he mean you too
46:59
because he's no respect of persons if he got me he got you if you're in him he got you and he's
47:07
more than anything that can come against you be strong and of good courage don't
47:14
dread don't be dismayed First Corinthians I'm sorry 1 Chronicles 22
47:21
and13 so Jehoshaphat the leader as a leader of God people especially need he needed to hear
47:29
this there are times when we need to hear a word from
47:35
God but we don't want to receive it from the person that's bringing it to us when God Sting the oh we we want to judge
47:41
them no when God send the message by the messenger then we need to hear the
47:48
messenger we need to hear these words somebody that's listening to
47:54
this [Music]
48:00
somebody that's listening to this day today needs to know that they don't have to fear they
48:07
need to know that greater is them he is in me that he that's in the world they need to
48:15
know that they can make it through regardless to what they're going through and regardless to the multitude of
48:21
things that they're dealing with regardless to what is the the number of people that's talking about them or
48:28
bringing up their past to try to destroy their future they can't do nothing with
48:33
us if God is for us so like Jehoshaphat there are times
48:40
when we need to hear the words the enemy was fastly
48:45
approaching from where they were to where Jehoshaphat was was 25 miles and
48:51
we know when you walking 25 miles it's a whole lot different than getting in your car in an airplane on the bus on the
48:56
train so it was going to take them a few hours to get there what three days it says three days it was going to take
49:03
them to get there and during this time instead of getting their armor together and preparing and sharpening their stuff
49:10
and they were seeking God the king went first as
49:16
Leaders we have to teach people how to go to God for themselves we're not in
49:23
that day and age where only the priest can go to God teach people how to pray teach people
49:29
how to worship teach them teach them by do being an example first Jehoshaphat
49:35
was a example first he went before God and prayed before God before the people
49:41
then he called the worshippers and the worshippers came in and they begin to worship they had
49:48
service while a multitude that probably can flick them like you Flicker at was approaching them
49:55
to destroy them when we're going through difficult times in life why don't we do that why don't we stop and pray and ask
50:03
God an army marching at a rate two miles per hour it would have taken them three days to get there so when in the crisis
50:11
situation there's always the perceived need to do something we Panic we get
50:17
anxious we have anxiety attacks yet Jehoshaphat did not need to concern
50:23
himself with how he and his people would overcome the enemy this Army this multitude for he
50:31
was not in real command of the the real command and chief y'all we're not in charge we
50:37
really not we have the right to make choices but God is still in
50:43
control and so if we take it to him just like they said in this and let the
50:49
battle be his and not ours there some things we going to have to do don't get me wrong there are some
50:55
battles we're going to have to fight sometimes God uses us and sometimes he
51:00
steps up like our big brother makes me think about the footprints on the stand
51:05
saying one of my favorite sayings I didn't understand it when I
51:10
first saw it and start reading it but there are times that we're going to have to fight there are times that we're
51:16
going to have to persevere there are times that we're going to have to go through difficult s um situations like
51:24
good Soldiers the script tells us that right there are times when we're going
51:31
to have to stand up and fight the battle but then there are times when the
51:36
battle is not going to be ours but the Lord's and we got to learn to discern
51:42
the difference and when to stand down and allow the Lord to do his work
51:49
amen verse 16 it says tomorrow go ye down against
51:57
them a multitude they coming for you and God
52:03
say and I want you to go for them see a lot of times I was thinking about this
52:08
we are you know in the sports they have offense and defense and the offense is
52:15
the person that's coming from you and the defense is you you got to defend yourself right but in this battle it was
52:23
the offense was coming they went to God they worship and they prayed God and now
52:29
God said now you go to them tomorrow I want you to get up and go down against
52:36
them you not going to take you going against them you go don't always be in
52:43
offense I mean defense be prepared they got
52:49
prepared they prayed the King prayed he went before God with a fervent
52:55
prayer he brought the worshippers they worshiped and then the man of God the
53:01
prophet of God spoke and told them that the battle was not theirs it was God's
53:07
and and then he said God says tomorrow go ye down against them behold and they
53:14
begin to go it said behold they come up by the Cliff of Zig and ye shall find
53:19
them at the end of the brook before the Wilderness of jeru God told them what to
53:24
do where to go and where to find the enemy that's what happens when we go to
53:30
him and not try to do it in our own strength and not try to be wise in our
53:36
own minds God will give us the plan to defeat the enemies that we come up
53:43
against every time he will give us the
53:48
plan CU either we going to have to fight the
53:53
battle or or he's going to fight it for us but either way we still have to
53:59
follow the plan and position ourselves for either
54:04
way whether he gonna fight it or we gonna fight it we got to be in the right position in the right
54:10
posture so he told them where the enemy was and their troops marched seven miles
54:18
along the road barding the resting shore of the Dead Sea so now this is faith in action right
54:26
faith without works is dead he told them this is where they are I want you to go to them and they begin to
54:34
March this is this is listen they begin to March
54:41
towards the multitude that can destroy
54:46
them the King was so perplexed or bothered by the attack
54:55
that was coming mostly because it was because of a
55:01
him and he went to God and God showed him what to do and he did it scared
55:10
probably but with faith in God that what God Said was G to come to pass that they
55:16
wasn't gonna have to fight but they still went to the battle get up and go to the battle
55:22
people of God I'm talking to y'all but God knows I'm talking to
55:27
me every sermon I preach every lesson I teach don't think you're the only one
55:34
getting something out of it if you are I am too because understand when we
55:40
accomplish one level God moves to another one and every level is going to require
55:46
the same things that that last level require but on a higher
55:52
level it may require some different weapon and so some different ways of doing it but God is going to give us
55:58
that blueprint and that plan and all we have to do is follow it they heard the
56:04
man of God now what do you think would have happened had the man of God came to them and told them this and they say
56:11
we're not going to listen to you you used to be a drunk you used to be alcohol you don't hear from God you ain't no Apostle you ain't no Prophet
56:19
you ain't no Bishop you ain't no you ain't no Christian I I I don't want hear
56:24
nothing you got to say what would have happened to them had they not heard the man of
56:31
God that's what the scripture is talking about but we got to be in a position to
56:37
know that we're hearing the man of God or the woman of God that whoever God
56:43
sends I was trained and got my Foundation by the late great Reverend Dr
56:51
ananas Davis and emit Johnson and at the welcome Missionary Baptist Church That
56:57
Was Then located on the back the the corner of mac and Phillip in Detroit
57:04
Michigan the foundation that they have given me is what has carried me
57:11
throughout my life being in Sunday school every Sunday that I could in
57:16
Bible class every Wednesday that I could to the point that they saw something in me and pulled me out and started
57:23
training me to teach this is not something that I'm just jumping up doing I've been doing this
57:29
since I was 13 years old 13 14 years old I was trained to do
57:36
this and have been doing it for years but still didn't feel like I was able to
57:41
do it because I was trying to do it in My Own Strength my own
57:48
abilities which was the wrong way to do it we can't do it in our own strength and our own abilities
57:55
there are people that God is positioning in our lives and we need to hear
58:01
them the word of God say try the Spirit by the spirit to see if it's of God hear
58:07
the word and then obey it when you when it when you know it's God don't look at the messenger this is
58:13
what Papa taught me papa say don't look at the messenger you can get a word from a drunk on the
58:20
street God can use whoever he wants to he
58:26
can any of us he can use regardless to our past he can use
58:33
us but we looked at the lineage of this this man of God that where he the
58:39
lineage that he came through and saw that he's a levite of God and God sent
58:44
him to give this word to them and they obeyed it even though they were swimming
58:49
up stream even though they were going against something that they couldn't beat on their own but God said' don't
58:55
worry about it I got you this ain't your battle this my
59:01
battle and so verse 13 it says ye shall not need to fight in the
59:07
battle set yourselves stand ye still and see the
59:14
salvation of the Lord with you some fights we trying to fight we
59:21
messing up we getting in God's way we don't need to
59:28
fight it says you shall not need to fight in this
59:33
battle discern it ask God what do I need to do if he said get out the way I got
59:39
you let him handle it because if you get in it you gonna mess it
59:45
up man how many things I messed up because I didn't want to wait I was
59:53
so anxious to get it done now be anxious for nothing but all in all things let your
1:00:01
request made be made known don't be anxious ask God and let
1:00:09
God tell you what to do he the King asks God and God sent somebody to tell them what to
1:00:16
do and see the salvation of the Lord go I'm Gonna Save you set yourself just get there set
1:00:25
yourself stand there and stand still and watch me watch
1:00:32
me watch my salvation watch me save you and Jerusalem fear
1:00:42
not nor be dismayed tomorrow go out against them
1:00:49
for the Lord will be with you don't be afraid I got you this is you good
1:00:59
sometimes the Lord Works through human intermediaries in this regard we saw battle after
1:01:05
battle throughout scripture and sometimes not but in this
1:01:11
scripture the promise is ye shall not need to fight in the
1:01:17
battle it is a strong hint that this time it will be the
1:01:22
latter you not see sending you in to fight yourself but this time he's going
1:01:28
to fight on your behalf and we need to know the difference when is it that we got to fight and do the work because
1:01:34
faith without works is dead or when do we have to work our faith and watch God do the
1:01:40
work my God the commands stand
1:01:45
still and see the salvation of the Lord with you and fear not for the Lord
1:01:53
will be with you are remarkably similar to what was told to Moses let's look at
1:01:59
Exodus 14 and
1:02:05
13-4 and Moses said unto the people fear ye
1:02:11
not stand still and see the salvation of the Lord which he will show to you
1:02:18
today for the Egyptians whom you have seen today ye shall not see them again
1:02:25
no more forever the Lord shall fight for you and
1:02:32
you shall hold your peace there are some people that God is just going to remove from our lives and we won't see them
1:02:39
forever there are some things that we gonna come against cancer high blood pressure diabetes you name it Financial
1:02:47
issues that they're going to God is going to handle it he's going to fight on our behalf and we can hold our peace
1:02:53
and we will never never see it again no more
1:03:02
forever so God had reassured these people Jehoshaphat the same way he did
1:03:08
Moses and all those other scriptures that we read over and over and over that the Assurance of the Lord's presence is
1:03:15
found in in so many other places as well even in our day we don't have no new
1:03:21
Bibles being written but we have new stories being written we still have new people who are being being added to that
1:03:29
great crowd of witnesses that that's talked about in Revelations people of Faith people are still people of faith
1:03:36
not just the ones in the scripture but there are still great men and women of God who are people of Faith
1:03:43
amen so now let's read Verse 18 and let's see the posture that
1:03:51
Jehoshaphat and Judah took after they heard the word from the man of God Amen
1:03:57
and it said and Jehoshaphat bowed his head with his face to the
1:04:02
ground so now the leader is bowing before the
1:04:08
Lord with his face to the ground that means he had to be prostrate he had to be low for his face to be to the ground
1:04:15
he wasn't standing up he had to be to the ground and it says that his face was
1:04:22
to the ground so I it just sounds like he was prostate to me and then the
1:04:29
people followed it says and all Judah and the inhabitants of Jerusalem they
1:04:35
fell before the Lord worshiping the Lord now clearly the
1:04:42
Lord had heard the king's prayer from the message that they had
1:04:47
just receed I got you you don't have to fight but I want you to go to the battle
1:04:55
be on the scene because I want you to be able to see the salvation of the
1:05:02
Lord thou preparest a table before me in the presence of my enemies you goingon
1:05:10
to be there to see [Music] it it's in the presence of your enemies
1:05:17
they were going to be there to see the salvation of the Lord amen and so
1:05:24
worship was the only proper response that's the posture they got in when God
1:05:31
they heard the word that God had answered their prayers they got in a posture of
1:05:37
worship the king first as an example put his face to the ground and begin to
1:05:43
worship God and then it says and all Judah and the inhabitance of Jerusalem
1:05:49
fell before the Lord and they begin to worship Him
1:05:57
the king set the example and the people joined
1:06:03
leaders I'm talking to me y'all I keep on telling y'all but if you a leader in
1:06:09
any capacity whether it's in a church on a job when I was a nursing supervisor for
1:06:17
13 years or however long it was I never asked my staff to do nothing I was going
1:06:23
to do wouldn't do I never put them in a position that I wouldn't put myself in lead a
1:06:31
leader is an example there a difference between a manager a supervisor a leader a real
1:06:39
true leader is going to be an example of what they want to people to
1:06:48
exhibit I they going to be perfect no if you look at any of my BIOS the first
1:06:53
thing it says is human why cuzz I'm human you're
1:06:58
human and the enemy wants us to think that when we mess up that God don't forgive us but he a
1:07:05
liar he always has lies mixed up with a Sprinkle of truth but we need to know if we know the
1:07:14
truth by studying the word of God it's going to make us free it's going to make us
1:07:21
free Eve would have never fail for what said to her has she really known the truth not
1:07:28
not just hearers of the word but doers of the word so the people joined
1:07:36
him and he he had declared that our eyes are upon you when he went to God In
1:07:42
Prayer in 2 Chronicles 20 and2 he said Oh Our Lord will thou not judge them for
1:07:51
we have no might against this great Army that cometh against us we can't do this
1:07:57
we can't fight this cancer we can't fight this diabetes we can't fight these
1:08:03
Financial issues whatever your it thing is we can't fight it neither know we
1:08:09
what to do we don't know what to do we're at our wit sin we're getting anxious we don't we we don't understand
1:08:15
what to do but our eyes are upon you we're looking to
1:08:22
you this is what the king said when he went and worshiped and prayed before the Lord
1:08:29
he said our God will thou not judge them don't judge
1:08:35
us for we don't know what to do we don't we we lost we we we don't know what what
1:08:41
next step to take we don't want to try to be wise in our own eyes we don't want to try to figure it out and and and and
1:08:48
mess things up more God we we coming to you
1:08:54
the things that we are dealing with right now is more than we can handle we can't handle this it's too much I just
1:09:00
lost my mother I just lost my cousin I just lost my dad I just lost my child I
1:09:07
just got diagnosed with cancer the doctor said there nothing I can't I can't I can't do
1:09:14
this I just lost everything I'm homeless I can't do
1:09:22
this I just lost my job I don't know my I can't do
1:09:28
this oh I can't do it in my own abilities
1:09:34
but my eyes are upon you that's what the king said he said it's too much I can't
1:09:41
handle it we coming to you our eyes are on you and then we see that later on in that same chapter
1:09:49
God be to answer the prayer and so now after they got the message that your
1:09:56
prayers have been answered and this is what God saying for you to do and I want you to go not only is he going to do it
1:10:01
the battle not yours it's his but he wants you to go go to where they are so
1:10:08
that you can see the salvation of the Lord you you g to see the salvation of
1:10:14
the Lord I want I want you to go there and the first thing that they did was they got into a posture of
1:10:22
worship a posture of worship the king first and
1:10:27
the people follow that's what our services and our churches and our that's what it needs to
1:10:35
look like every it ain't about the clocks the time it's about Allowing God to be God
1:10:43
and do God and to come into the the sanctuary we got to invite him
1:10:50
in and allow him to do what he does like only he can do it allow him in allow him
1:10:59
in amen verse
1:11:07
19 and the cites took their names from kof now here we're looking at some
1:11:14
more um we're looking at some more genealogy
1:11:19
just a little bit of genealogy the second of the three sons of Levi so let's look at Genesis 46
1:11:29
And1 and the sons of Lei Goram kohar and Mar
1:11:37
marari the sons of Levi okay so that was that tribe from that tribe they came
1:11:43
from that tribe from the kives came the Priestly family of Aaron and let's read 1
1:11:51
Chronicles 6 1-8 the sons of Levi Goram kth and Maria and the sons of koho this
1:11:59
is genealogy this it amran isar heon and
1:12:06
uzil and the children of Amron Aaron and Moses and Miriam now we know Aaron Moses
1:12:13
and Miriam really well those that was the ones that brought the children of Israel out BS right and so now we're
1:12:20
looking at Aaron who was a part of that the sons of Aaron ndeb and Ebu is and
1:12:29
eth now it's a reason why we're talking about these Levites right so let's look
1:12:34
at that and so the Levites were responsible for keeping the sanctuary we
1:12:40
know that Levites are the worship leaders right so let's look at this
1:12:46
these people a part of this genealogy real
1:12:52
quick
1:12:59
so because we need to understand because see in our families we have mess right we have mess in All Families David had
1:13:06
mess in his family David had a whole lot of mess in his family son raped his
1:13:12
daughter he killed your David had mess most families have
1:13:18
mess but most families also have blessed they have good
1:13:23
now everybody has some stuff in their families so in this family same thing
1:13:29
they had some stuff and so they Infamous Infamous for organizing a rebellion
1:13:36
against the authority of Mo Moses and Aaron during the Israel when they were in the wilderness they were the ones who
1:13:42
tried to overthrow Moses Kora and those who joined him in
1:13:47
defiance were swallowed up in the earth in a terrifying demonstration of God's Wrath you you can look at that if you go
1:13:54
to numbers 16 25-35 so they came against Moses but they really weren't coming against Moses
1:14:01
and Aron because Moses and Aaron was doing what God told them to do right they were coming against God when people
1:14:07
of God are doing what God tell them to do and you coming against God Don't Make God
1:14:13
angry it's so they were Infamous and organ organizing a rebellion against the
1:14:19
authority of Moses and Aaron during the Israel's wandering in the wild Wilderness so cor and those who joined
1:14:26
him they were in defiance they were defying against God and the things that Moses had been telling them and a they
1:14:32
were defined against that and they were swallowed up but just that's the bad part of the
1:14:39
family now let's talk a little bit about the good part of the family there were some of them who did
1:14:46
not join in with this action and I'm going be honest I I said I wasn't going to talk about this but when I I've been
1:14:53
been up since 3:00 and I got up and I couldn't go back to sleep so I came back and started
1:14:59
reviewing the lesson for this morning again and when I got up and start reviewing the lesson the first thing
1:15:06
that came to my mind was Cat Williams and I don't know whether you're a fan of Cat Williams or not I don't
1:15:12
know if you've seen the show that he just did on the Shay Shay broadcast
1:15:17
millions of people have watched it and I'm not even looking at the part about
1:15:22
where addressed all the things that he said other people have said about him but I'm looking at his faith and how he
1:15:31
said that he was raised Jehovah Witness but did
1:15:37
not and and and he read a lot so because he read a lot at some point he was
1:15:43
reading the Jehovah Witness material and even teaching it at the age of five
1:15:48
teaching at the age of five because he was so brilliant he's a brilliant brilliant
1:15:54
mind but then he got a hold to a Bible and when he got a hold to the
1:15:59
Bible he started reading the Bible and then he stopped believing what
1:16:05
he had been raised up to believe and so that's kind of like with these people
1:16:11
and he did made a lot of moves in his life because of his faith in God and so even in our families where we
1:16:19
have some people who don't believe we have people that do believe and so so there were a part of this F these
1:16:25
descendants of Kora who did not take that action because they believed and so
1:16:30
the difference in the attitude between those who stood up to join Jehoshaphat in praise and worship and that their
1:16:35
forefathers Who Rose up to defy Moses is to be noted we need to understand that
1:16:42
they were the good people from that Clan and as time moved on and the Tabernacle
1:16:49
gave way to the temple they became The Gatekeepers and so I'm just going to give you some scripture I'm not going to
1:16:55
read well I'm going to go ahead and read them because I'm almost done 1 Chronicles 6
1:17:03
and22 the sons of kohath abam his son corah his son and
1:17:10
Asha his son and in SE uh we're still a second 1
1:17:17
Chronicles this is chapter 91 17-19 and the poor ERS were Shalom and
1:17:26
kaboo at C I'm sorry not kaboo AB these names are hard y'all Talman and Aman and
1:17:36
their Brethren Shalom was the chief who hereto waited in the king's Gates
1:17:43
Eastward they were Porters and the companions of the children of Levis and sholom the son of K the son of
1:17:52
is SP the son of Kor see they came from that tribe and his brother of the House
1:17:58
of his father the kites were over the work of the service they worked in the
1:18:04
service keepers of the Gate of the temple and their fathers being over the
1:18:09
host of the Lord were keepers of the entry so there were people that were a
1:18:14
part of this group of Levites who did not try to overthrow Moses and and and
1:18:22
um Aaron but became a part of what they
1:18:27
were doing and when the temples was built they were in uh
1:18:33
instrumental in helping keep it guarded they said their fathers were on the outside of the temple and they were
1:18:39
on the inside of the temple Garden so please don't forget that every family
1:18:44
has some good in it I don't care how bad the family look you got a ram in there's
1:18:50
a ram in every family so let's talk about worship what does genuine authentic
1:18:57
worship look like in Italy day and night at regular
1:19:03
hours of prayer monks Gather in robes and chant ancient hymns in a Gothic
1:19:10
cathedral in Iowa on the stage of a tiny Country Church a shaggy-headed guitarist
1:19:17
rocks out to heavy metal before a sea of tattooed and pierced motorcycle enthusiast singing along to the lyrics
1:19:24
of Devotion to Jesus in India an elderly woman prays
1:19:30
and worships at a niche in her living room wall that once held pictures and
1:19:35
statues of Hindu gods but now features only a cross in Oklahoma A well-dressed
1:19:43
couple sit in the theater seating of a mega church and watch a well Renown well
1:19:50
rehearsed drama laughing and thinking soberly about God's gentle persistent
1:19:56
call in their lives around the world worship of God is
1:20:03
a diverse as diverse as God's people love for Jesus can be expressed
1:20:09
in any language as well as by all sorts of Music art and Body Language
1:20:15
regardless of how amateur various worship Expressions might look two
1:20:21
things matter one that it is offered for a from a sincere heart of
1:20:27
devotion and two that it is offered only to the true God who sent his son to die
1:20:35
on behalf on our behalf John 4:23 says but the hour
1:20:44
cometh and now is when the true worshippers shall
1:20:51
worship the father in Sp spirit and in truth and I brought this up earlier for
1:20:56
the father seeketh such to worship him I always get ahead of myself I try not to
1:21:02
but I do so there is a time and that time is
1:21:09
now when true worshippers those who are really sold out to God those who really give their lives to
1:21:15
God will worship Him in spirit and in
1:21:21
truth his truth is his word his word is his Truth for the father seek he looking
1:21:27
for us to worship him and so to worship with the first without the second is
1:21:34
idaly if we're worshiping with a sere heart and and
1:21:41
it's not to God then we worshiping another God right if it's not to the true God we're worshiping an
1:21:47
idol and to worship the second without F without the first is H hypocrisy
1:21:53
if we trying to worship God and but but our heart is really not in it we really
1:21:58
not sold out for him and we really have not given him our hearts then it's we're being
1:22:05
Hypocrites so are we airing which way and if we are which way are we adult
1:22:10
doing adultery or H hypocrisy or are we doing
1:22:16
both are we doing both are we worshiping God and being devoted to
1:22:24
him the true and Only God who sent his son to die on our
1:22:30
behalf he's looking for us he's waiting for
1:22:35
us are we there our last and final
1:22:43
verse verse 20 and it says and they Rose early in
1:22:48
the morning and went forth Into the Wilderness of tioa and and as they went forth so now
1:22:53
they're going Jehoshaphat stood and said hear me oh Judah and ye inhabitants of
1:23:00
Israel believe in the Lord your God so shall you be
1:23:06
established beli in His prophets and so shall you prosper now this is
1:23:12
Mega because first of all if we want to be established if we want our things to
1:23:17
go the way that they should go then we got to be a step we got to be in God we
1:23:23
got to believe in God that's the only way we going to be established faith without works is dead those that love
1:23:30
that that love him we got to believe that he is and he is a rewarder of those that diligently seek him we got to
1:23:37
believe I always say that if we don't have faith we
1:23:42
lost we have to believe and if we believe then we'll be
1:23:49
established but we also have to believe in those that he sent in the prophets
1:23:55
the prophets are just people bringing the word of God that's carrying his word if we want to prosper so believe in
1:24:03
the Lord your God so shall you be established Believe In His prophets and so shall you be Pro um so shall you
1:24:12
prosper Rising early in the morning indicates the king and the people's
1:24:17
anticipation to see how the Lord will work on their behalf it was a 18 my walk
1:24:23
and they need to get to the Wilderness before nightfall so they got up early and they
1:24:31
begin to walk walk because God told them to go because I want you to see the
1:24:37
salvation and Jehosaphat took the lead in encouraging the people to dis
1:24:44
discriminate dis I'm sorry and Jehoshaphat took the lead
1:24:50
encouraged the people to demonstrate great faith in the Lord he said he got
1:24:56
up early and they went forth and he stood before the people and he said
1:25:02
listen all of you that inhabit Jerusalem believe in
1:25:08
God he was an example still telling the people and doing it why do we know that
1:25:14
he was an example because he got up early cuz he went it say he got up early
1:25:19
and he went forth Into the Wilderness where God told him to
1:25:26
go my God so he's demonstrating he's not just
1:25:32
telling he's encouraging them to do it but then he demonstrates it as well and as Jehoshaphat challenged the people to
1:25:39
believe in the Lord and in his Messengers the prophets it appears the king accepted the
1:25:45
message and I say he accepted it because what did he do he got up and begin to move in what he told him
1:25:53
the link between trusting the Lord and trusting His prophets shall not be overlooked if God's covenant people
1:25:59
desire to obey him they must accept the word spoken by his inspired Messengers
1:26:06
and in this case the prophets when God's people ignored and even mocked them mocked these Heaven
1:26:14
Sent Messengers a heaven sent judgment Came Upon them see Second Kings the holy
1:26:22
entire chapter 17th chapter read it about when the people ignored and mocked those that brought
1:26:30
the message to them from God King Jehoshaphat and the people of Judah had chosen to heed the words
1:26:37
spoken to them when they raised their voices in praise to the Lord the Lord indeed came to their rescue and brought
1:26:44
what a mirculous miraculous deliver Deliverance he delivered them they got
1:26:50
up they worshiped they PR praise he sent a messenger with the answer they got up and worshiped again and then they went
1:26:58
like the messenger told them to go and so that allowed the people to plunder the possessions of their enemies they
1:27:05
were able to go and see God do the work and if we look at 20 21-
1:27:13
2 it says and when he had consulted with the people he appointed singers unto the Lord and that should praise the beauty
1:27:21
of holiness and as they went out before the Army and to say praise the Lord for
1:27:26
his Mercy endure forever and when they began to sing and to praise the Lord set
1:27:31
up ambushments against the children of amnon Moab and mount seir which were
1:27:37
come against Judah and they were smitten for the children of ammad and
1:27:44
Moab stood up against the inhabitants of Mount seir utterly to slay and Destroy
1:27:50
them and when they had made a end of the inhabitant of SE everyone helped to
1:27:55
destroy another so they turned against themselves y'all see that they started
1:28:01
fighting one group and then the other group start fighting they were it was just all types of crazy and when Judah
1:28:07
came toward the towards the Watchtower in the
1:28:13
wilderness they looked into the multitude and behold there were dead bodies falling to the Earth and none
1:28:20
escaped not one person Escape when he said the battle is not yours it's
1:28:27
mine he everybody was slown not one person was saved and when Jehoshaphat
1:28:33
and his people came to take away the spoil of them they found among them in the abundance both riches and the dead
1:28:40
bodies and precious jewels which they stripped so now God destroyed them every
1:28:48
one of them and everything that they had was given to Jehoshaphat and his
1:28:54
people the wealth of the wicked is laid up for us it's laid up for us so the king and
1:29:03
the people then returned to Jerusalem as they had left it when they got back home home was just the way they left it it
1:29:09
was no damage it was nothing wrong in triumphant praise and worship of the
1:29:14
Lord and let's look at that that's um still in 2 Chronicles 20
1:29:20
26-28 and on the fourth day they assembled themselves in the valley of Barak for
1:29:27
they were blessed for there they blessed the Lord before the name of the same place was
1:29:32
called the valley of barach Unto this day then they returned every man of
1:29:39
Judah and Jerusalem and Jehoshaphat in the Forefront of them to go again to
1:29:44
Jerusalem with joy for the Lord had made them to Rejoice over their enemies and
1:29:50
they came to Jerusalem with Su trees and harps and trumpets in the house of the Lord they Contin they worship God the
1:29:56
whole time through the mess before the mess in the mess after the mess y'all
1:30:03
worship is important so let's just close out our lesson King Jehoshaphat had offered a
1:30:10
passionate plea to the Lord for help admitting that neither the king nor his people had any strategy or resources to
1:30:18
confront the oncoming threat we got to go to God for strategy and
1:30:25
resources he will provide perhaps as his prayer progress
1:30:30
his voice grew louder possibly even trembled as he reached the end and declared his utterance utter depend
1:30:37
dependence on God he said my eyes are on you God I I can't I can't do nothing my
1:30:44
people don't know what to do our eyes are on you perhaps as he pray his prayer PRI
1:30:51
progress his voice grew louder we said that okay neither do we do know what to
1:30:58
do but our eyes are on thee 2 Chronicles 2:12 then came jehza Spirit empowered
1:31:04
words the people uplook changed their Outlook they looked
1:31:10
up to God and it changed the Outlook of their whole thing our uplook should be
1:31:16
changing our Outlook if we look up to God the word of God say look to the heels from when cometh our help for our
1:31:23
health cometh to the from the Lord if we look up then our Outlook our outcome how
1:31:31
things turn out will be better all of us can probably recall a
1:31:39
time when the passage of God's word was especially reassuring and helped us get through difficult
1:31:44
circumstances we may not have felt as desperate as Jehoshaphat did but we
1:31:50
experienced the same energy that comes with God's encouragement we may not be like je
1:31:57
hezel who encouraged the king and his Nation when the spirit of God Came Upon him but perhaps during the course of a
1:32:05
day someone will come to mind that we can share scripture with by phone text
1:32:10
email or passcode so think about that who is the person that you can encourage today who
1:32:16
is the person that you can call go by and see give them a hug send them a text send them an email send them a postcard
1:32:23
send them flowers who is
1:32:30
it so we need to let our uplooks looking up to God looking to the heal from
1:32:36
what's coming to our help change our outlooks because it can father in the name of Jesus we just
1:32:43
thank you for the culture of our world God we oppose anything that come

1:33:05
that we may escape the influence of the world and the things of the world thank you for those who have encouraged us
1:33:11
over the years and thank you for your promises may we seek to pass that
1:33:18
blessing on to others may we be blessed to be a blessing let us not just hold on
1:33:24
to things but let us encourage other people and use our gifts to pour out to
1:33:30
each other and up build others and encourage others father and to help us
1:33:36
all to walk out this journey that you have set before us and father even as we go out through this week's Journey
1:33:43
father and there are those who s may need encourages help us not be afraid to
1:33:48
say what needs to be said to give a hug a fist bum a air a air high five or just
1:33:56
some words of encouragement let us love on each
1:34:02
other and let us and and encourage each other that it's going to be okay and not just be hearers of the word
1:34:11
but doers of the word and not just say we love you but show we love
1:34:16
you and even as we go throughout this week also Father we decree and declare
1:34:22
that the tricks plots and ples of the enemy are cast down and that we will hold up a you will
1:34:27
