today's lesson and even as I was finalizing things this morning a lot of

country and it's funny cuz I thought about it and then I saw a map on the on the of

right side is having snow storms and rain and things of that nature and all

of this that's going on how ironic that our Sunday school lessons

for the winter are talking about who God is as king

Lord Of Our Lives how he rules and he He

Reigns and how he created everything from the beginning to time and how he

watches over his word to perform it I am so

excited that as I studied I thought about God really is in the details he

really is in the details these lessons were probably in these books and ready

printed and ready to go before any of this ever happened I mean I bought these books back in August none of this was

going on during that time and these lessons were already prepared God is in the details I heard I

hear this a lot but when I Was preparing and finalizing things this morning I

just had a reminder that God truly is in the details father we just thank you for

problems arise when things are going on God is our King he is our ruler he is

know he's our King but he's a majestic King he's not like some of these other

kings and rulers and presidents and political people and he can't be compared to them but he is Majestic in

story oh let me read our key text for today's lesson the Lord reth he is

one Psalms 93 and one that is our key text that is what our L lesson is um

focusing on who God is he is the one who Reigns and how does he he clothe in

Majesty amen so our first story is talking about

power over Authority power over Authority what

images do you associate with the highest government authorities and when we think

about the highest government authorities in the United States who would that be that would be our president and our vice

president right in other countries it would be their kings for people in the United States

the White House Capitol Hill or even the Constitution might be the most powerful

images in a monarchy perhaps the face of the king or a queen comes to mind or a
7:49
palace or crown while these images might not always have positive connotations
7:56
they are typically linked to Authority and Power and they are they are linked

to Authority and power a lot of people are um very afraid about what's going to
8:07
happen when the uh changing of the guards as they say the president's change office what is going to happen in

the United States and I've heard all these different things oh people are ashamed of the United States none of
8:21
that really matters when we get done with these lessons even as of last week where we talked about God being King and
8:28
how he cares about us this week we're going to talk about his majesty and it can't be compared to our
8:35
people in the world we'll talk about that you know I always try to get try not to get ahead
8:41
of myself because I start hearing things but I'm not going to get ahead of myself and so all of these symbols are meant to
8:49
evoke respect and Inspire confidence in a nation's citizens are we confident do

we have that kind of confidence in our government that we have in God H the world of the Bible had its own

symbols of power and authority Kings were wore colorful robes and golden

crowns they built public monuments and enormous palaces to honor themselves and

celebrate their accomplishments and we think about that with the Hebrew boys when they made the the um statue of the

king and they had to Bow before the king they made these monuments and things do

we see any statues or uh monuments built for

God but human authorities even good leaders fall short of
9:43
perfection and clearly we see that with our president that's getting ready to go into office with felonies so surely he

fall short we all fall short that's what the word of God says we all have sinned and fallen short of the glory of God so

of course of course human leaders cannot be perfect because human people are not perfect they fail often

spectacularly those called to prot protect can cause harm in themes of

Crisis the symbol of authority can evoke fear and anger instead of respect and

confidence and we see that a lot and I I'm associate that with with uh our

police officers and how some of them have been a abusing their Authority even

with some of the attacks that have taken place lately it's been people in the military whom we should be respecting
10:40
right we should have confidence that they're going to Serve and Protect but instead they're evoking fear and

anger then and now the world Longs for a new kind of authority a different King

Psalms 93 celebrates the king we have all been seeking

Hallelujah the King of Kings and the Lord of lords and so how do we describe things that we are have never
11:09
experienced if you never experienced something a lot of times you'll hear what other people say or uh oh I went to
11:17
Disney and I got on this ride and this is what I felt and this is what it did

but you've never really experienced it yourself so what what do you do when a person is talking about an experience

that you've never had um going in the boat in in Niger Falls or um flying in a
11:37
helicopter across the Grand Canyon or anything that you've never done and you
11:42
hear people talk about it you automatically go into your imagination and you start imagining what that
11:49
experience was like right and so one way is to use our imagination to compare
11:54
what we have experienced to what we have not experienced yet and we G

and approximate understanding of things we have not by likening to things that we

have seen so we do a comparison of sorts right and so in this
12:12
Psalms we see the psalmist did the same thing in comparing God to things we have
12:20
not directly seen the glory and the power of God but we compare it to other
12:26
things right we compare his glory and his might and his glorious powerful things to things that we have
12:32
experienced knowing that he surpasses them all we can't compare God to the
12:38
president we can't compare God to our Governors and our Mayors and our police
12:44
officials he excels them all and but so

that we could kind of get an understanding of what the psalmist is
12:54
saying he did a comparison of things that we are familiar with so that we

could understand what he was saying does that make sense amen and

so in this conversation he uses descriptions to describe God such as
13:15
personification because God is an impersonal power but because he is not
13:21
confused he can't be confused with human characteristics especially not physical
13:27
characteristics he does not have a a physical body right we have not seen God

other than Jesus we have not seen God in his physical actual state of being so we
13:42
have to imagine him by comparing him to some physical things in the human world

right in the earth some of the things that some very the very things that he has created we have to com we use those

as comparison to get a feel or a understanding of who he is

amen and so another way that he's going to be using um it's par parallelism is

to build an image through repeated and representing the ideas over and
14:17
over um doing so is going to strengthen the description of what he's saying so

let's get into our lesson so we you understand that no we cannot um compare

God to these things but in our imagination when we think of God about so many things we have a we get a visual

I know I'm a visual learner I have to see things and God created me as a Seer

so now I understand more why I am a visual learner because I'm a Seer that's how I hear God that's how I understand

god um he shows me things and so now in this lesson he's going to show us some

things he's goingon to break down some things for us so that we can see

um who he is and how he functions and even

though the descriptions are not really comparable it'll give us an

understanding of God Amen and so the first scripture is going to we're in

Psalms 93 Psalm 93 turn to in your Bible or go on your

phone or your tablet or your computer pull out your Bible and follow

along always follow along with the person that's teaching or preaching so

that you can read the scriptures for yourself not only to make sure that what they're reading is what they're what's

not remember and I talk and teach about the talents all the time but I couldn't

that's good for you that happens it keeps us humble because we don't we

think we have arrived we never arried we're always growing we're always learning and we're still human in human

bodies so we are apt to forget or or to error so when you hear a person stumble

it doesn't necessarily mean they don't know but it's just so much going on in

their mind and he he came told me of an experience and he's been preaching since he was a teenager and he's in his almost

going to 70s he said this is what happened to me last Sunday and I said

wow we all can do things or forget things even when God puts us in

positions that's to keep us humble so we don't get so hardy and think oh I have a ride and I got this no we don't have

nothing everything that we do we live and we do is through the power and

authority that God has given us it's through the gifts and the callings and the anointings and app pointings that he

has given us it's his gifts that he has given us and we are apt still as humans

to error or forget but that's why you have to have your Bible out because then

you will say oh that's she said that wrong so you will know for yourself and

study for yourself right as it says in the Bible in Timothy study to show yourself approval of God a Workman that

now do we know if God wears clothes or not has he really clothe himself with

things you know when we think of a natural King we think of the robes and all the colors and the belts and the

shoes and the crowns and all that but does God really need or have any of that

does he really wear any of that let me put this scripture in

here I did this last week and I think that kind of helped for those who may not have their Bibles handy

that scripture and it says the Lord reth he is clothed with Majesty the Lord is

clothed with strength the Lord is in small caps is all capital letters but

it's small caps and that translates into God's proper name Yahweh

for English speak speakers we will say Yahweh the name is first recorded in

Exodus 3 and 14 when Moses asked how to refer to God the god of Abraham Isaac

and Jacob and so in Exodus 3 and 34 it simply says God said to Moses I am who I

am tell the people of Israel I am sent me to you and so that's how God

responded to Moses when Moses asked him what that meant Yahweh is only four

letters in the Hebrew and it means I am who I am or I will be what I will be and

that name conveys God's REI reliability to himself is not thickle or changing as

something else tomorrow it just depends on who's in leadership but God is reliable he is consistent in everything

us even though we've never seen God right and so it says that he is clothed

in Majesty let's look at at at at Isaiah 59-1 17 it says he dressed in

righteousness put it on like a suit of armor with salvation on his head like a

helmet put on judgment like an overcoat and through a cloak of passion across

his shoulders this descriptions here are appropriate for Kings right but whereas

a human King might be clothed in flying linen and royal colors God is clothed

clothed with Majesty let's look at Psalm 1 and4 God

my God how great you are beautifully gloriously robed here again using our

imagination to see God clothed in

Majesty Isaiah 26 and10 says if the wicked are are shown Grace they don't

seem to get it in the land of right living they persist in wrong living

blind to the Splendor of God and we talked about this previously how the

wicked sometimes think hey God don't see me or I don't even believe in God I can

do what I want to do but how many know that God is seeing everything and he's given us we have the

ability to live right in a wrong world but it's our choice because of his

majesty and his Splendor and who he is and how he created us we have a right he gives us the ability to make our own

choices but he also says to us that I would that you would choose life i i s set before you life and death

but I would that you would choose life so when we choose the wrong way of living when right is present in front of

us we're not choosing we're blind to God and His Splendor and his might and his

majesty and who he is to us amen and his strength it says

the Lord is clothed with strength now look let's look at Psalms

21 And1 it says your strength God is the King's strength helped he is hollering

God watch for his Works be alert for signs of his presence see we see God in things we see

sleeping the boat and they told him Jesus is storming out there Jesus was

able to speak to the winds and the waves and he was able to walk out on the

a part of who he is and the car after all he created it all right and so God's

character good morning rise God's character alone is also wonderful to

perceive that no further adornment can heighten the experience we I don't care

what we put on him the most beautiful rign is not enough to Adorn God he is the

author of all things all things rest on him not any of these things are going to

trap his power we don't need to add nothing to him but we do need to

understand who he is and so here the author is giving us uh semblances and

and different things that we can look at to make us understand who God is and

then finally it says where he has GED himself so GT is is when you put your belt on right a belt which would be gted

around one's waist let's look at Psalms 45 and3 it says strap your sword on your

side Warrior except praise except do honor ride majestically ride

triumphantly often times they put their belts on and put their swords in and we know that our sword is what the word of

God the sword of the spirit is the word of God and so he is guarded with his

word and it holds everything into place amen our belts when we put on a belt and

listen I've been having problems with belts cuz my waistline for the old belts

it just don't fit anymore so sometimes we the word that we have may not be

enough the belt May good morning grandson the belt may be too

small it may not be enough word to get us through maybe it got us through the last thing that we were going through

but now we need a little bit more we got to go a little bit deeper we got to spend a little bit more time in prayer

and a little bit more time in worship and a little bit more time in the word having conversations with God prayer is

nothing but talking just like you talk to somebody else you talk for a little while they listen then they talk and you

listen so when we pray we're talking to God we're having a conversation with god but we can't just always talk we got to

stop and take time to listen but we're talking about the belt which is comparison and this is not what it said

in the lesson this is what holy spirit is saying to me that that belt is the word of God right the the the the the

sword that's held in that belt is the word of God so make sure we have on our belts that we are girded with the word

and certain scriptures that we learned growing up and they do help us and they do get us through but there are times

that we're going to have to know that we're going to have to cast down every imagination and every High thing that exalt itself above the knowledge of God

that we have in God that we're going to have to fight our thoughts there are

sometimes that we're going to have to know that even though that we're going through hell and and high water we're

going to have to know that we are HS and Joint HS with Jesus and God has given us power and authority

to speak to those things that we can speak to the mountain that we don't have to and the mountain will be removed

there are some things that we need to know and need to understand about the

word and so we have to have our belts on and our our swords

ready and that's but listen I hear people say and there's no

on my bookshelf and I can go pull out any one of them and I so I have paper

Bibles but I do use my digital Bibles more I do and it's all the word of God

so it's nothing wrong with where you get your word from what matters is that you

get it and that you hide it in your heart that you committ it to memory and you should know where the where it is

but if as long as you know what it says that's what matters because when things

come and things happen you're going to need that word you're going to need the

word of God to get you through it and so it says that the belt would be girded

around one's waist and it holds the robe close to the body to help to gather the bottom parts of

the robe around the and between the top of the legs allowing free quick

movement now we're talking about the belt but the Holy Spirit has me talking

about the sword that goes in the belt right because then we just read about

homeless had a place to go but not lost my house or or whatever didn't have a place to of my own with my kids and

time there were some things some remnants of things that were still there but the majority was gone and so in in

the book overcoming the enemy too I wrote about my perfect storm and how I

overcame that and how I got through things and and you know people this is one of the things that God has been

revealing to me in this last week how people on the outside looking in think

they know about your life think they can tell you about who you are what you did

and what you feel and and this is you and that's you and they really don't even know the hell that you have gone

through the things that you have suffered but God God told me that this

year is going to be a year but God because life is going to life things are going to happen but God will provide all

of my needs according to his riches and Glory so it doesn't matter what happens

there's a good but God for all of it because he said I would that you would prosper and be in health even as your

soul prospers so as we stay in him and our souls are prospering guess what but

God it's all going to work together for our good and I know it hurts and I know

it don't make sense and I know you want to quit yesterday morning when I got off

the phone talking to some of my loved ones and all the things that's going on I just begin to cry and go into prayer

and and speaking my heavenly language and just cried out to God Welling before

the just as well as the unjust it's going to be tough sometimes things are going to happen some of it is going to

consistent but are we consistent we talked a couple weeks ago about having persistent Faith are we consistent in

believe you but I don't believe no more because you let this happen I walked away from the church two

years the church building but I never stopped talking to God my brother Mike was killed and then

house right and as the Holy Spirit forms us into his people in his likeness like

Jesus knowing that collectively and individually we are his temples we are the temple of God so

those buildings we are we go into to worship and to to assemble ourselves

together because it says forsake not the assembly but we are the band of baptized Believers of God we are the temple of

God and we commit ourselves to him that we will be the salt and the light and

conclusion as we look to God as king we recognize his powerful authority over

holy Reign How should we join the psalmist in the worship we too express our Wonder at what God has done simply

because of who he is and that's why we praise him that's that's why we worship him not just because of what he's done

cry out to God for them like I would a person that I that I never had to

forgive that has never done me any harm and then we have to understand it's about people too and God revealed this

to me as it relates to my relationship with my biological father sometimes we have to understand

him in the home and not present in my life it was difficult for me to

things bothered me but as an adult it went into my adulthood and it affected

want the best for him I want him to live a long life I want him to be healthy and I pray and I cover my parents all the

time I said but I went to his house on Father's day one year and I sat in front of his house

and he probably never heard of this I sat out there and cried for probably almost an hour because the my I've

always wanted to be a daddy's girl I always wanted to go to the daddy daughter dances and I always wanted to

have the pretty dresses and all that and I had this big old plan to do these things and he danced with me at my

wedding but it you know it was just different things that I yearned for from my biological father but then I had to

realize that God was my father the Bible say he will be a father to the fatherless and a mother to the

motherless and he gave me bonus parents he gave me stepdads and he gave me stepmoms that I call my bonus parents he

gave me those people to fill in gaps that the that maybe my biological parent

was not qualified or did not have the capacity to do they were teenagers when

they had me so how my expectations so high and I didn't do the best and I was

a teenager too but even with my older two kids my youngest two kids I was older but it was so much baggage and so

many things that I needed to work through so we have to understand it about people that we got to meet people

where they are and and we got to forgive people and give people Grace if we you

know you want people to give you Grace and to forgive you and the things that you do then why don't we do it to each

other why are we so hard on each other I always say this because I watch when

Chris Brown and Rihanna was going through their stuff and some of the other stars and I watch how the

stars um surround each other and embrace each other in difficult times and if we

say we are the people of God and we are the true people of God then we need to be showing the world we need to be the

example of how to forgive and love each other and so what if a person was on drugs and they went back so what if a

person was a prostitute and they've been saved or in church for all these years and they went

back what are we gonna do with that we gonna still love that person we gonna still love on them we're gonna help them

walk back that Journey people may slip back they may but we still got to love

him and we still got to show love and show God and be who God is when God gave examples in the scriptures of the
